S.N. Goenka – Founder of Vipassana

During his time in Holland, our founder, Mr. Sumit Chuttar, was approached by an Italian colleague who asked if Sumit had ever practiced Vipassana. Although Sumit had heard a lot about it, he had never experienced it himself. His colleague strongly encouraged him to give it a try.

Upon returning to India, both Sumit and his wife, Sonia, completed a 10-day Vipassana meditation course at Igatpuri, Nasik. On the fourth day of the course, Sumit experienced a profound shift when his observational skills became incredibly sharp. Through the practice of Anapana—focusing on the breath—he found clarity and insight that had eluded him before. The Vipassana meditation process became a deeply transformative journey for him, where he encountered the law of impermanence and gained insight into how our reactions and attachments shape our experiences.

Sumit learned how the mind works and came to understand the importance of detachment and mindfulness. He highly recommends Vipassana to everyone, as it offers invaluable lessons on self-awareness and inner peace. The teachings of Goenkaji continue to inspire Sumit and influence his work at 108 Springboard, where they also helped him craft the ‘mind’ pillar.

Once Sumit was faced with a life threatening situation during that the practice of Vipassana helped me to have calm mind.  During this time Sumit started worshipping Lord Hanuman and prayed him to guide him as his Guru.

The discourses by Goenka ji helped Sumit a lot.  He realised how devotion towards truth can lift from any problem that comes your way.
