Mahavir Swami

We are profoundly inspired by the insightful teachings of Lord Mahavir Swami. His wisdom has been instrumental in shaping the Words module at 108 Springboard, a program dedicated to spreading awareness on creating meaningful, joyful relationships rooted in understanding and mutual respect.

Lord Mahavir Swami, the 24th Tirthankara in Jainism, emphasized the principles of non-violence, truth, and spiritual discipline. Among his most profound teachings is anekantavada—the doctrine of multiple perspectives—which holds immense relevance in our interconnected world.

He beautifully illustrated this concept through the story of the blind men and the elephant: each man, touching a different part of the elephant, described it uniquely—one felt the trunk and thought it a snake, while another, touching the leg, called it a pillar. Although each perspective was valid, none captured the whole truth. Anekantavada reminds us that truth is multifaceted and can only be understood in its entirety by embracing diverse viewpoints.

This profound doctrine encourages open-mindedness, tolerance, and humility. It encourages us to respect others’ perspectives and acknowledge the limitations of our own understanding. Practically, it serves as a guide for cultivating empathy, resolving conflicts, and building harmonious relationships in a world enriched by diversity.
