Full Moon Day

It was a beautiful Sunday.  As usual, Toni Panda overslept.  He came out of his room and saw Papa Panda.

Toni Panda: Good morning, Papa.

Papa Panda: Good morning, Toni. (Papa Panda greeted happily).

Papa Panda: Do you know, Toni, today is a special day.

Toni Panda: Why? What’s so special about today? Someone’s birthday? Did I forget?

Papa Panda: No, Toni!  You are always thinking about birthday.  Today is a full moon day.

Toni Panda: Full moon day?  So??

Papa Panda: The full moon day is a special day for many reasons.  And meet Ms. Semla Goat – your childhood teacher today.  I will be back from garden in an hour.

Toni got confused and he went straight to Mama Panda.

Toni Panda:  Mama, what is so special about today?  And, Full moon?  Papa asked us to meet Ms Semla Goat today, I am scared of my first teacher!!

Mama Panda: C’mon Toni.  There are around 12 to 13 Full moon day in a year.  These are very special days.  If you go around the seashore or just talk to our friends who go for sailing, you’ll come to know that the full moon day has a big impact on waves.  On this day, the moon and the sun’s gravitational force cause a surge in tides and waves.  Our body, which is 70% water, also experiences an upward surge of energy on this day.  Our ancestors were very close to nature and they knew all this, and therefore on full moon day, they devoted time for self-reflection, goal setting, and personal growth.

Toni Panda: Wow, that’s interesting.  I wasn’t aware.  But, why to meet Ms Semla Goat?

Mama Panda: Well, Toni, during June/July, the day of the full moon is celebrated as Guru Purnima?  It’s a day to honour and thank our teachers.  Even though you’re born in the Panda family, many others outside our family will guide you and help you in life.  These people are your teachers and Gurus, and on this day it’s important to express your gratitude towards them.  By doing so, you attract more knowledge, success, and power into your life.

Toni Panda: Oh, I didn’t know that. This is very interesting. I will definitely go and meet Ms. Semla Goat – my first teacher!!  I’ll also carry her favourite cake.  I know which one she likes.

Mama Panda: That’s great, Toni. Also, make sure you take Penny along with you.

Toni Panda: Sure.

Toni and Penny got ready and were about to leave when they stumbled upon Granny Panda.

Granny Panda: Where are both of you going?

Toni Panda: Granny, today is Guru Purnima, so we made a cake at home and are taking it to Ms. Semla Goat, our first teacher.  Papa said on this day we need to show gratitude to our teachers.

Granny Panda: You are so thoughtful, Toni and Penny.  I am so happy for you.  On your return journey from Ms. Semla Goat’s house, visit the community garden and sit under a tree in a still and meditative pose.  Meditating on Purnima day can enhance your personal growth. Find a quiet spot, set your intention on what you want to achieve in life, and focus on your breath.  Just enjoy this moment, even if only for 10 minutes.

Toni Panda: We will do this, Granny Panda. Thank you so much for guiding us. You have always been our first teacher, starting from our loving home. Thank you so much.

Granny Panda: You’re welcome, my dear. Enjoy your day and embrace the joy it brings.

Panda Wisdom ????

Expressing gratitude is the first step to attract abundance in life. Have you expressed gratitude to your teachers? Consider the joy and happiness it will bring to them. If not in person, you can still meditate and send your gratitude through your thoughts.
